Joe and Gigi ca. 1973 photographed by Ray W. Jones

Gloria Dawley (Gigi) is Joseph’s wife. They were married in 1961 and have been together through thick and thin all these years. This is her page.

As many of you know, Joe has been residing in a nursing home for 3 years. He is doing very well there, and is cared for marvelously. As a matter of fact, they even allow him to paint. A corner is completely set up for his exclusive use, and is referred to as “Joe’s Gallery”. Here he paints as often and as long as he wishes, as long as staff is there to supervise. These paintings are totally unique to him, and are abstract, bright, rather small, and beautiful, as his paintings always were. Because objects can be found within many of them, they are referred to as his “subliminal” paintings.

Joe’s ability to go in the face of grave adversity has always been inspiring, and his current talents are continuing to be sought after. So far, our good friend Toot and I have orchestrated a one-man show in Bordentown, NJ, and one in Washington, D.C., both very successful, and widely attended. Also, The Parkinson’s Foundation of NJ included Joe’s works as 1 of 14 whose works were presented. The World Parkinson Congress just contacted me the other day about presenting Joe’s works in Washington, D.C. in February 2006. I have no details as yet, but will let you know what’s happening. I want to thank everyone for their continuing interest in Joe, and his work. He may be in a nursing home, but he’s a long way from down and out.

Love to all,
Gigi Dawley
